Thai F-16 fighter jets hit Cambodian positions

THAILAND scrambled six F-16 fighter jets to attack Cambodian positions after fighting broke out between the two countries this morning (July 24) with a rocket fired by Cambodian troops hitting a petrol pump and setting adjacent convenience store ablaze killing two persons and injuring many others including students, Naewna newspaper and Amarin TV said.

At 11.55 a.m. Cambodian soldiers snapped selfies as they took refuge in a bunker at Preah Vihear province after opening fire targeting a community area of a hospital on the Thai side.

The Facebook page of the 2nd Army Region branded as fake news reports published by Cambodian media that their troops had shot down a Thai F-16 aircraft and confirmed that all Thai fighter jets had returned safely after strafing Cambodian positions.

The Thai fighter jets had targeted Cambodian positions opposite Chong An Ma, Ubon Ratchathani province.

Earlier a Cambodian BM-21 Grad rocket hit a petrol pump and burnt down the convenience store next door in Kantharalak district, Sisaket province, after several were fired at Khao Laem and some hit Prasat Don Tual.

Two people were killed and several people, including students, injured.
